Mayor Maciol called the special meeting to order at 7:04 pm followed by the pledge to the flag and roll call.
Present: Mayor Maciol, Trustee Bialek, Trustee Jarosz, Trustee McCoy and Trustee Semeniak
Gary Markowicz - 56 Greenman Ave, was in attendance as he thought it was a regular board meeting. He had three issues he wanted to mention to the board. Mayor Maciol advised him it is a special meeting, but he can gladly speak.
•1. He is concerned about the deteriorating condition of Greenman Ave near the railroad tracks. Mayor will look into same.
•2. He is concerned about the policy that spring leave must be put in containers. He also wants to know if residents can dump at the New Hartford green waste site. Mayor didn't think so, but he will check.
•3. He is also concerned about the truck traffic entering and exiting the business at the 42 Greenman Ave driveway.
Whitestown Fire Contract: Trustee Bialek is concerned that the Town Board collected our requested amount from the taxpayers, but is only giving us last year's amount. We are also waiting for the fire study to begin.
Resolution 37-2008 - Trustee Semeniak made a motion seconded by Trustee Bialek to have the board sign the 2008 Whitestown Fire Contract.
Summer Park Help: Trustee McCoy spoke about the seven job interviews he conducted for the park attendant positions. Trustee Bialek stressed the need to give preference to village residents. Trustee McCoy agreed. Trustee McCoy stressed that we need to insure that in addition to taking residency into consideration, you must also look at the qualifications. Trustee Semeniak agreed.
Resolution 38-2008 - Trustee McCoy made a motion seconded by Trustee Semeniak to hire Kate Bartholomew, Robert Frankland, Lindsay Rowlands, and Samantha Szkotak as park attendants.
Summer Highway Help: After discussion on whether two or three people should be hired, it was agreed that it will be two.
Resolution 39-2008 - Trustee Jarosz made a motion seconded by Trustee Semeniak to hire Catherine Cotrupe, and Joshua Edwards as summer highway laborers.
Trustee Jarosz inquired if "Oneida Street" next to 100 Main Street is an actual village street or not. It is in deplorable shape. Mayor will research it and report back to the board.
Mayor also spoke about his Veterans Park tree memo. He invited the board to meet him at the Park after the meeting to express their concerns.
With no further business, Trustee McCoy made a motion seconded by Trustee Jarosz to adjourn the meeting.
Mayor Maciol adjourned the meeting at 7:59 pm.
